What is AnimGifMoji?
AnimGifMoji is a free online tool that converts animated GIFs and WebP images into custom emojis for messaging platforms like Slack, Discord, Microsoft Teams, and WhatsApp. It automatically resizes and optimizes your images to meet each platform's requirements.
Is AnimGifMoji really free?
Yes, completely free with no hidden fees, premium tiers, or watermarks. The site is supported by advertising (Google AdSense and Amazon affiliate links). You can use all features without creating an account.
Do I need to create an account?
No. The core GIF-to-emoji conversion works without any account. Signing in with Google or GitHub is optional and provides access to additional features like your conversion dashboard.
Privacy & Security
Are my uploaded images stored on your servers?
No. Your images are processed temporarily and deleted immediately after conversion. We never store your uploaded files. All processing happens either in your browser or on our server during the active conversion session only.
What data do you collect?
We collect basic analytics (page views, session data) through services like Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity. If you sign in, we store your name, email, and profile picture from your OAuth provider. See our full Privacy Policy for details.
Is it safe to upload sensitive images?
While we don't store your images, they are temporarily transmitted to our server for processing. If your GIF contains sensitive information, be aware that it passes through our infrastructure briefly. For maximum privacy, use GIFs from our built-in search (Tenor/Giphy) instead of uploading.
Conversion
What file formats are supported?
AnimGifMoji accepts animated GIF (.gif) and animated WebP (.webp) files. Static images (JPEG, PNG) and video files (MP4, MOV) are not supported.
Why is my converted emoji lower quality than the original?
Messaging platforms impose strict size limits (e.g., 256 KB for Slack). To meet these limits, the tool reduces resolution, frame count, and color depth. Starting with a shorter, simpler GIF produces better results. See our troubleshooting guide for tips.
Can I convert a video to an emoji?
Not directly. AnimGifMoji only accepts GIF and WebP files. You'll need to convert your video to GIF first using a tool like FFmpeg, Ezgif, or your video editor's export function, then upload the resulting GIF to AnimGifMoji.
How many GIFs can I convert?
There's no limit. Convert as many GIFs as you'd like.
Does AnimGifMoji preserve transparency?
Yes. If your source GIF has transparent areas, the converted emoji will maintain that transparency, which is especially useful for emojis that need to blend with chat backgrounds.
Platforms
Which platforms are supported?
Currently: Slack, Discord, Microsoft Teams, and WhatsApp (stickers). Each platform has different requirements, and AnimGifMoji optimizes for whichever you select. See our platform requirements guide for details.
Can I use the same emoji file on multiple platforms?
Sometimes. Slack and Discord have identical requirements (128×128 px, 256 KB), so a file converted for one usually works on the other. Teams and WhatsApp have different requirements and need separate conversions.

Search
Where do the GIFs in search come from?
Search results come from Tenor (owned by Google) and Giphy (owned by Shutterstock). These are major GIF libraries with content from creators worldwide. AnimGifMoji doesn't host GIF content — we search these providers on your behalf.
Can I use any GIF I find in search?
GIFs from Tenor and Giphy are provided under their respective terms of service. Most allow personal use (like custom emojis in your workspace). For commercial use, check the specific content's license. AnimGifMoji is not responsible for the licensing of third-party content.
Why do Tenor and Giphy show different results?
They maintain separate content libraries curated by different teams and communities. Try both if you can't find what you're looking for — they often have different strengths.
Technical
What browsers are supported?
AnimGifMoji works in all modern browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge (latest versions). Internet Explorer is not supported.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes. The site is responsive and works on mobile browsers. However, the conversion process works best on desktop due to larger screens and faster processing.
